Last week was busy, busy, busy. We had a primary teacher appreciation dinner, and there was a lot of getting ready for that. I had to make a couple of centerpieces and two large crock pots of soup; I also had to cut the tulle for decorating the chairs and I played a violin solo (I practiced a lot, since I haven't picked it up in two years).
On top of all of that the primary is also in charge of the ward trunk-or-treat and I've had a few responsibilities to prepare for that. Plus, there's the kids, and I just have to say that I have two legit toddlers right now and it is exhausting. And then there's the house, and for some reason I thought last week would be a great week to organize my entire life. You know, on top of all of the millions of other things I already had to get done.
I know to some people all that up there sounds so easy, and I know that there are many people in more difficult and demanding, and exhausting situations than myself. But regardless, it was just a long hard week for me.
Honestly I don't think I've ever had a to-do list as long as the one I had last week, but as a result I learned a lot about the Atonement and it's enabling power. Every day when I'd wake up and stare at my to-do list and feel totally overwhelmed, I'd slip off the bed onto my knees and just pray and say, "I'm just doing the best I can; help me get the important things done today".
And without fail, the important things (and even some of the not so important things) *somehow* got done. Little life lessons.
Anyway, my family also came to visit this past weekend. My parents are pretty much the greatest people ever. We had lots of fun together. You can see our outing to the Spooner Farms pumpkin patch here, and our outing to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle here. I wish they could have stayed for longer!
