This week was super eventful. That sentence also reeks of sarcasm, just in case you didn't pick up on that on your own.
But I sort of knew when I started these weekly updates (one week ago, it's been sooooo long) that there'd be some boring weeks to account for too. I've learned that much of motherhood is pretty monotonous and repetitive. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in the movie Groundhog Day, only it isn't groundhog day and I'm not Bill Murray.
Last week Joey and I went through an eight pack of bubbles, an eight pack. Everyday when we'd go out and blow bubbles and I'd have some serious de ja vu. We also went on about 500 bike rides, and Joey always predictably chooses the same path he always does (I let him choose where we go). I change lots of diapers, I wash lots of dishes, I do lots of laundry.
I'm constantly putting things back where they go after Lizzie empties the contents of the drawers she can reach in the house. Lots of moms/dads can probably relate to what I'm talking about here. Oh, the monotony.
And strangely, I still wouldn't have it any other way.
In other news, sometimes I like to sit around and watch the kids and speculate about what they'll be someday.
Like, I'm convinced that Lizzie is going to be a professional rock climber, that's a thing, right? She's got some serious climbing skills. Joey, he's going to be a professional baseball player. Man, can he hit that ball far! Or maybe he will be an olympic track runner; he's got runners legs, and some serious speed (I would know, I have to chase after him). I like to dream big, I always have.
P.S. You should all start using the word "sloffery". Joey made it up. We think it means "sticky and messy", because of the context that he uses it in.
Weekly Update #2 (Sept. 27th-Oct. 3rd)

I have decided to do weekly updates here on the blog. It's really important to me that I write things down, so that I'll always remember the little details of our life.
I started a homeschool preschool with Joey this week. It has been so much fun! This week we had an overview of the alphabet, we learned about the color blue, and I introduced him to circles. Last fall we thought about enrolling him in a traditional preschool for this year, but in the end we decided that we probably couldn't afford it and we weren't sure that he was ready!
It turns out that he is more than ready! His mind is sharp and he's so curious about every little thing. David's fellowship got extended into his second year of grad school as well, and so we probably even had a few extra dollars we could have put toward preschool each month. I really regret not putting him in a preschool.
My talent for teaching and homeschooling is basically zero, so this year will be quite a challenge for me. But I also feel that if I miss this opportunity to start teaching him while he's young, when he is so eager and willing, I may just end up raising a kid who isn't as into learning as I want him to be. So I'm doing my best to provide him with the same knowledge and experiences he would have if he were enrolled in a preschool. Wish me luck.

This little babe of ours turned ONE on Monday. Can you even believe it!?! I think I am still in denial. She is so big and so independent now. It is amazing to think that one year ago she was just a teeny tiny six pound baby who needed us for everything.
